1) Photographer’s name: Don Worth Book title: Photographs 1955-1985 Year published: 1986 2) Pg 6 and Pg 30 3) I liked the 1st photo for the high contrast of black and white. If you look real quick it’s almost doesn’t look like leaves but dotted lines instead. I like the shapes of the leaves as well. They’re very organic. 4) I love the color in the 2nd photo. The purple vases and the large yellow flower really stand out for me. I like how the little plate matches the drop-cloth. There’s a lot of pattern and textures in this photo playing nicely with each other. The drop-cloth almost looks like some parts of it could be popping out as if they are really leaves and not fabric. 5) I chose this book because as I flipped through it had a lot of brightly colored and contrasting pictures. I like how there is a lot of plant aspects in it. 6) The photographer does a good job of pairing textures with the different plants. He also plays with shadows and makes good use of black and white contrasting. 7) A good photo is one that intrigues at least one person. It grabs a person’s attention and holds it long enough for the person to stop and think about what is going on in front of the lens. A good photo can also have multiple meanings. Several different people should get different stories from it. It gives the imagination room to think of elaborate and exciting stories about the scene. A good photo looks at a subject from a completely different angle than a normal person would look at it. It makes a person stop and look at the objects and things that we easily pass by without noticing on our own. To me a good photo is also when I see it and instantly want to recreate it and try to take a picture like it myself. It needs to evoke a strong emotion, whether it is happy or sad, angry or calm.
